Liam Lawson Optimistic After Points Finish at United States Grand Prix

Liam Lawson secured a P9 finish at the United States Grand Prix, bolstering Racing Bulls' position in the Teams' Championship. Despite a tough race for teammate Arvid Lindblad, Lawson is enthusiastic about the upcoming races.

Liam Lawson had a solid weekend at the United States Grand Prix, bringing home a P9 finish for Racing Bulls. This result not only added valuable points to the team's tally but also helped solidify their grip on fifth place in the Teams' Championship. After starting as the 'best of the rest' behind the top teams, Lawson managed to maintain his position throughout the race.

The 24-year-old New Zealander was pleased with the team's performance at the Circuit of The Americas. "When everyone finishes, for us it's a P9 or a P10 – that's sort of the best we can do," Lawson remarked. "Honestly, we executed really well today – we had a great race, so couldn't really do more. Overall it's been a strong weekend."

Lawson expressed confidence in the car and his own performance, noting, "I mean honestly, yeah. I feel good. I felt good all weekend. I’m enjoying driving this car, honestly – it's in a great place at the moment, so I’m excited to go to some more sort of unique tracks now." Looking ahead, he anticipates the challenges of racing in Mexico and Brazil, particularly the high altitude and bumpy conditions, but remains optimistic.

Meanwhile, Arvid Lindblad faced a tougher outing, starting from P14 due to a five-place grid penalty. He finished 12th, and while he found it difficult to summarize the race, he acknowledged some positive aspects. "It was okay," he reflected. "Lap 1 wasn't as good as I'd hoped – obviously I went down the inside, but we all kind of stacked up on top of each other so I wasn't really able to make any ground there."

Lindblad's strategy involved an early pit stop onto medium tires, which initially seemed promising as he gained on Franco Colapinto. However, he found himself caught in Pierre Gasly's undercut window, losing time as a result. "I think I was the only one who tried to do the two-stop – I don't think that worked," he admitted. Despite the challenges, Lindblad appreciated feeling more comfortable in the car compared to earlier in the weekend.

As Racing Bulls looks forward to the next two rounds, Lawson's enthusiasm and the team's continued efforts suggest they are eager to capitalize on their current form.
