Luke Browning to Drive for Williams in FP1 at Monza

Williams has confirmed that reserve driver Luke Browning will participate in FP1 at the Italian Grand Prix, taking Alex Albon's spot for the session. Browning, who joined the Williams Driver Academy in 2023, has been making steady appearances in practice sessions. His journey with the team began with an FP1 outing at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and since then, he's added several more to his resume.

Now serving as Williams' reserve driver, Browning balances his F1 duties with a stint in Japan's Super Formula. Although originally slated to drive in Barcelona and Austria this season, an electrical issue sidelined him in Spain. However, he did manage a P18 finish during FP1 at the Red Bull Ring, trailing Albon by three-tenths.

F1 regulations require all teams to give rookies—defined as those with fewer than three Grand Prix starts—two FP1 sessions each season. Browning's upcoming run at Monza will be another step in his development journey. "I'm thrilled to have another chance to drive an FP1 session with Atlassian Williams F1 Team," Browning stated. "Each session teaches you something new, and I want to take every bit of learning I can from this to keep pushing my development and the team forward."

This year has been challenging for Williams, with late car development and a lack of pace keeping them at the back of the grid. Browning's work on the simulator has been crucial in addressing these issues, and his on-track feedback will be valuable as FP1 kicks off at 12:30 local time on September 4.

For Browning, the upcoming session is a chance to support Williams in maximizing their performance at Monza while furthering his own growth within the team.
