Otmar Szafnauer proposes a solution to keep both Liam Lawson and Nikola Tsolov on the 2027 F1 grid. He suggests Red Bull place Tsolov with another team, like Haas, to avoid displacing Lawson.
Otmar Szafnauer has put forward a plan that could see both Liam Lawson and Nikola Tsolov racing in Formula 1 by 2027. Rumors have been circulating about Tsolov potentially joining Racing Bulls, which could jeopardize Lawson's seat. However, Lawson's recent performances have been impressive, securing a strong ninth place in the Drivers' Championship, even surpassing Oscar Piastri in recent matches.
The idea is to find Tsolov a seat elsewhere, perhaps at Haas, as suggested by Szafnauer during a chat on the High Performance Racing podcast with Jake Humphrey. This would allow Lawson to continue at Racing Bulls, where he's currently second only to Max Verstappen in terms of performance within the Red Bull family.
Lawson has been maximizing his race results, and replacing him could be a questionable decision for Red Bull. Szafnauer's suggestion to place Tsolov with another team seems logical, especially if Red Bull wants to maintain Racing Bulls as an independent and competitive outfit. Lawson, after all, stands as Racing Bulls' fastest driver at the moment.
