Christian Horner Says Sebastian Vettel Agrees: Max Verstappen is Red Bull's Best Driver

Under the leadership of Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing has secured eight Drivers' Championships, split evenly between Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen. Vettel clinched four consecutive titles from 2010 to 2013, followed by Verstappen's triumphs from 2021 to 2024. Despite Horner's flirtation with a return to F1, he has made it clear that he won't be rejoining Red Bull. However, he recently weighed in on the debate about who among his former drivers ranks as the best.

When asked by Sky Sports News to choose between Vettel and Verstappen, Horner noted, "That’s tough, but I think even by Sebastian’s admission, I think what we are seeing with Max is a generational talent." He went on to praise both drivers, acknowledging Vettel's dominance during his championship years but emphasizing that Verstappen's talent, commitment, and relentless nature have propelled him to surpass his predecessor.

Horner's opinion is apparently shared by Vettel himself, who has long admired Verstappen's prowess on the track. During the 2023 season, Vettel commended Verstappen, saying, "Max is demonstrating at the minute that he's pulling off something that’s never been done before." He praised Verstappen's adaptability and focus, highlighting his ability to thrive even in uncomfortable situations.

Vettel further remarked on Verstappen's growth, suggesting that as long as the Dutchman remains attentive, he will continue to improve. "He’s not distracted, he’s not worrying about which sneakers to put on in the morning and happy to go racing. That’s what he loves," Vettel added.

It's clear that both Horner and Vettel hold Verstappen in high regard, seeing him as a driver who not only stands out among his peers but also in Red Bull's storied history.
