Colapinto Hails Best Race Weekend with P7 Finish in Spain

Franco Colapinto had plenty to smile about after the Spanish Grand Prix, where he clinched a seventh-place finish that he described as "probably my best race weekend" with Alpine this year. The Argentine driver fared well on the inaugural F1 visit to the Madring, finishing just behind the leading teams.

Colapinto managed to out-qualify his Alpine teammate, Pierre Gasly, for the second time this season, starting from P9. A quick move at the start allowed him to get ahead of McLaren's Oscar Piastri, and with a dash of good fortune—courtesy of Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari retirement—Colapinto maintained his points position. A timely pit stop during the race's only Virtual Safety Car kept him secure in P7 by the end.

"It's probably my best race weekend in terms of execution this year," Colapinto reflected, acknowledging how he maximized both his qualifying and race performance. "We will debrief as a team and continue to develop the car, aiming to maximize our performances each weekend."

The result marks Colapinto's second consecutive points finish, following a near-podium at the previous race in Italy where a minor error saw him slip down the order. It's been a productive season for him, with eight top-ten finishes out of 14 races, a record that convinced Alpine to re-sign him ahead of the Italian GP weekend.

"The team did an amazing job, and I maximized everything today and yesterday," Colapinto added, expressing pride in the result and excitement for the future. "Things are going well, and I think we can carry this momentum forward into Baku and the rest of the year."

When asked if anything specific had improved his performances this season, Colapinto simply replied, "No, I'm just feeling one with the car. I think I'm learning and improving." Such harmony with his machine suggests he's only getting started.
