The last Italian to win the F1 World Championship was Alberto Ascari in 1953, and the country hasn't celebrated a race winner since Giancarlo Fisichella in 2006.

At a press conference before the Belgian Grand Prix, when asked if he or tennis star Jannik Sinner is more famous in Italy, Antonelli humorously deflected, saying, "More famous in Italy is Charles [Leclerc] right now. He’s probably the most famous man in Italy."
