Louise Goodman Announces Departure from BTCC Role

Louise Goodman, a cherished figure in motorsport broadcasting, is stepping down from her role with the BTCC. Her departure marks the end of a notable chapter with ITV, spanning nearly three decades.

Louise Goodman, a beloved former ITV F1 reporter, has announced her decision to step down after the BTCC season finale at Brands Hatch this weekend. Goodman, 63, was a familiar face in Formula 1 broadcasting on ITV from 1997 to 2008, before the network lost its F1 rights to the BBC.

After her F1 tenure, Goodman continued with ITV, becoming a key player in their British Touring Car Championship coverage alongside lead presenter Steve Rider. Rider retired in 2025 due to health reasons, and now Goodman has decided to follow suit at the season's close.

Goodman has remained active in the F1 scene, most recently seen interviewing drivers at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. Reflecting on her career, she commented, "I've decided to step down from ITV Sport's team covering the British Touring Car Championship. It brings an end to an amazing chapter with ITV, which started almost exactly 30 years ago when they took a punt on a total novice."

She expressed gratitude for her time in the BTCC paddock, noting the camaraderie and excitement that defined her experience. "To everyone who has been a part of this ride – from F1 to touring cars, on screen, off screen, watching at home or just shouting at your telly when I call someone by the wrong name – thank you," Goodman added.

ITV lauded Goodman for her pioneering role in motorsport, crediting her with breaking barriers for women in a traditionally male-dominated field. "Goodman’s impact extended far beyond the questions she asked. She helped pave the way for future generations and inspired many along the way," ITV stated.

For nearly two decades, Goodman has been at the heart of the BTCC, known for her ability to capture live moments with professionalism and a knack for putting people at ease. Her contributions have made BTCC coverage a staple of Sunday sports viewing, and her presence will be missed by fans and colleagues alike.

The motorsport community, along with ITV Sport, expressed their gratitude and best wishes for Louise Goodman, acknowledging her as one of the finest pit-lane reporters of her generation.
