Ralf Schumacher has criticized Christian Horner for comments made about Helmut Marko during Horner's recent book promotion. Schumacher believes Horner's remarks have tarnished his own legacy.
Christian Horner, in the midst of promoting his autobiography 'Drive', has come under fire from Ralf Schumacher for comments he made regarding Helmut Marko. In several interviews leading up to the book's release, Horner alleged that Marko actively sought his removal from Red Bull, even during a personally challenging time when Horner's ex-partner had passed away. Horner expressed his frustration in an interview with Bild, highlighting Marko's lack of condolences and claiming that he often had to manage the fallout from Marko's actions during their time at Red Bull.
Further elaborating on the Up to Speed podcast, Horner noted that while their working relationship had its harmonious phases, it became strained following the death of Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz. Despite the success they achieved together, including the recent triumphs of Max Verstappen at the Bahrain and Singapore Grands Prix, Ralf Schumacher has labeled Horner's comments as "tasteless."
Schumacher told Sky Deutschland that Horner's remarks overshadow his accomplishments with the team, stating, "He is ruining all his own work, because he was very successful together with the team." Schumacher lamented that Horner's actions detract from the significant contributions he made to Red Bull's success, particularly in influencing their winning engine.
Meanwhile, Helmut Marko has refused to engage in a public dispute. When approached by F1-Insider, Marko dismissed Horner's claims as a "collection of untruths," opting not to delve further into the matter.
