Hamilton Faces Balance Woes as Leclerc Shines at United States GP

Lewis Hamilton struggled with balance issues, finishing fourth at the United States Grand Prix, while Charles Leclerc secured a podium for Ferrari. Leclerc remains optimistic about Ferrari's prospects following recent upgrades.

Lewis Hamilton encountered a tricky United States Grand Prix, pinpointing car balance as his main hurdle. Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc celebrated another podium finish, marking a positive outing for Ferrari in Austin.

Ferrari had arrived at the Circuit of The Americas with high hopes, buoyed by upgrades that seemed promising during practice sessions. Hamilton and Leclerc impressed by topping Friday and Saturday practices, but the competition intensified by qualifying, with the pair starting fourth and fifth, trailing the Red Bulls, as Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes clinched pole position.

The race began with Antonelli maintaining his lead and eventually securing a commanding victory via a one-stop strategy. The Ferrari duo quickly entered the fray, overtaking Isack Hadjar and engaging in a spirited battle with Max Verstappen. Leclerc managed to overtake Verstappen momentarily, but the Dutch driver reclaimed his position until Leclerc's late-race maneuver secured second place.

While Ferrari and Red Bull opted for two-stop strategies, Hamilton ended up just shy of the podium in fourth place. The seven-time World Champion cited balance issues as a significant challenge, explaining, "I didn't have a new tyre to start on, which put me on the back foot compared to the cars ahead. The balance was my biggest issue today, but the team executed great stops and strategy."

Despite these setbacks, Hamilton remains hopeful about future races, although he acknowledges the need for better setup solutions. "Charles did a great job, and it's good for points, helping us stay ahead of McLaren in the Constructors' Championship," he said. "I need to extract more from the car. It's happened a few times, like at Silverstone, where I couldn't match Charles because of his better front wing setup."

Leclerc, on the other hand, was pleased with his performance, securing second place and expressing confidence in Ferrari’s potential. "It was a good race, and I enjoyed the battles, especially with Max and Lando Norris," Leclerc noted. "Mercedes saw something in the one-stop strategy that Red Bull and I didn't, but regardless, I think our result wouldn't have changed much."

Looking ahead, Leclerc is optimistic about Ferrari's progress, thanks to recent upgrades. "The upgrades have been in a direction I like, boosting my confidence in the car," he said. "Although we're nearing the season's end and won't introduce major changes, optimizing what we have puts us in a good position for upcoming races."

As the season progresses, both drivers have their sights set on maximizing their performances, with Hamilton keen to solve his car's setup challenges and Leclerc hopeful of building on Ferrari's momentum.
