Sergio Perez Extends Stay with Cadillac F1 Until 2029

Sergio Perez has extended his contract with Cadillac, keeping him with the team until at least 2029. The announcement comes just before the Mexico City Grand Prix, a fitting backdrop for the Mexican driver.

In a move that will delight his home crowd, Sergio Perez has signed a contract extension with the Cadillac Formula 1 Team, ensuring he will remain with the American outfit until at least 2029. The announcement was made ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix, marking a significant commitment from both Perez and the team.

Perez joined Cadillac in 2026 as they made their debut in Formula 1, and his decision to extend his stay reflects his belief in the project. "Joining Cadillac Formula 1 Team from day one was a project I truly believed in," Perez stated. "Building a Formula 1 team from the ground up takes time, relentless work and patience, but the progress we are making together is incredibly rewarding."

Despite the challenges of a debut season, Cadillac has shown steady improvement, although they have yet to score a point. Perez, who will make his 300th F1 start in front of his home fans this weekend, remains optimistic about the team's future. "There is still a lot of work ahead of us and I am fully committed for the next three years," he added.

Cadillac's CEO, Dan Towriss, expressed his excitement about Perez's extended tenure. "On the eve of a special weekend in Mexico City, we’re thrilled to announce that Checo will remain an integral part of Cadillac Formula 1 Team for years to come," Towriss said. "Building a competitive team in F1 is a long-term journey, and securing Checo’s talent and leadership gives us the continuity and commitment we need to build on the strong foundation established in our first year."

Perez's career has seen him take six Grand Prix victories with teams like Sauber, McLaren, Force India, Racing Point, and Red Bull. His experience is considered invaluable as Cadillac aims to climb the grid in the coming years. As he prepares for this weekend’s race, Perez looks forward to continuing the journey with Cadillac, thanking the team and fans for their support and trust. "To every member of this special team, at the track, in the US, the UK, and our fans, thank you for your support and trust. I won’t let you down. Let’s keep pushing!”

With this new deal, Perez and Cadillac are set to embark on the next phase of their journey, focusing on building a competitive team and making progress in the Formula 1 world.
