When Could Kimi Antonelli Clinch the 2026 World Championship?

But before you get carried away with the thought of a dramatic comeback by one of these challengers, consider this: Antonelli could wrap up the championship as early as the Singapore Grand Prix. To do so, he’d need to win in Azerbaijan and Bahrain, then triumph in both the Grand Prix and Sprint in Singapore, while Russell would need to score no points in these events. Achieving this would give Antonelli an unassailable 375 points, a full 164 points clear of Russell, with only 150 points left to race for.
Should this scenario not unfold, Antonelli's path to the title could stretch to Mexico. If both Antonelli and Russell continue to perform at their current average race finishes—Antonelli averaging P1 and Russell 3.5—Antonelli would secure enough points in Mexico to seal the championship with a 112-point lead that Russell couldn’t overcome.
Of course, F1 is never predictable, and races can turn on a dime. While the stats lean heavily in Antonelli’s favor, he knows only too well the importance of keeping his eyes on the track, not on the trophy.
