Oliver Bearman acknowledges Ferrari's influence on his F1 future, despite wanting to continue with Haas. While he dreams of a Ferrari seat, he's focused on Haas for now.
Haas driver Oliver Bearman is clear about his aspirations for the future, yet acknowledges that Ferrari will play a significant role in shaping his path. Bearman, a Ferrari junior driver who has shown promise since joining Formula 1 full-time with Haas in 2025, is eager to continue with his current team. However, he remains open to the allure of a Ferrari seat, which is his ultimate goal.
At 21, Bearman has made a strong impression, though his plans for the 2027 season remain unconfirmed. With Rafael Camara, another Ferrari protégé, stepping up to fill one of the Haas seats, Bearman was asked about the delay in his own contract confirmation. "On my side, and I think on Ayao [Komatsu, Haas team principal’s] side as well if I’m not mistaken, we’re very sure that we want to continue working together," Bearman said. The hold-up seems to be contractual, with his management and Ferrari handling the details.
Bearman's performances have positioned him as a potential future Ferrari driver, but with Charles Leclerc extending his contract and Lewis Hamilton showing no signs of retiring, Bearman might have to be patient. When asked about the type of contract he prefers, Bearman said, "I’m committed to Haas myself, and the length of the deal is not really my remit." While he's content at Haas, Bearman has his sights set on podium finishes and hopes Haas can provide those opportunities.
Despite his current focus on Haas, Bearman is keeping an eye on the future, aiming to join a top-four team, with Ferrari being the ultimate aim due to his connections. "Of course Ferrari are involved. At the end, I am a junior driver of Ferrari, and that’s ultimately the reason I’m here because of that. So of course they have a big say in what my future looks like," he noted.
As it stands, Bearman has collected 23 points in the 2026 season, placing him 13th in the Drivers’ standings.
