Ted Kravitz Honors Retiring F1 Broadcaster Louise Goodman

Ted Kravitz has paid tribute to Louise Goodman, who is retiring after a remarkable career in motorsport broadcasting. Goodman was a pioneering figure in F1 and the British Touring Car Championship.

F1 pit reporter Ted Kravitz has offered a heartfelt tribute to Louise Goodman as she retires from her distinguished career in motorsport broadcasting. Goodman has been a familiar face on UK motorsport television for nearly forty years.

Kravitz and Goodman became a dynamic duo on screen when ITV took over the British F1 broadcasting rights from the BBC in 1997. While Kravitz and Martin Brundle moved on to the BBC and eventually to Sky Sports as broadcasting rights changed hands in 2008 and 2012, Goodman stayed with ITV, becoming a prominent figure in the British Touring Car Championship.

Goodman's retirement has drawn tributes from across the motorsport community, including a particularly touching message from Kravitz, shared before the final BTCC race of the 2026 season at Brands Hatch, a former F1 venue.

"Hi Louise, my first TV wife," Kravitz began. "Thank you for everything you’ve done. You taught me how to be a pit reporter, broke down barriers, and were the first woman to participate in a Formula 1 pit stop during a grand prix with Jordan. You've been amazing ever since. I love you. Thank you for everything you’ve done for British motorsport and motorsport worldwide."

Goodman's pioneering pit stop involvement occurred when she was with ITV, arranged with Midland—formerly Jordan—allowing her to change the left rear tire on Tiago Monteiro’s car at the 2006 British Grand Prix.

Throughout the weekend, many tributes poured in from both the BTCC and F1 paddocks, leaving Goodman visibly moved. Though often on the verge of tears, she maintained her composure in front of the camera, expressing gratitude to her colleagues and friends.

"So sweet. My F1 family, my BTCC family. It’s just so lovely. It’s just been the most amazing weekend," Goodman said. "I’ve got enough bunches of flowers to open a florist; I’ve got wine, I’ve got champagne, I’ve got my name on a racing car. What a way to end it all. It’s just been amazing."
