Alonso Finds His Groove with Aston Martin's Upgrades in Hungary

These updates included changes to key components like the front wing, floor, diffuser, and rear suspension. The aim? To climb the grid order, of course. And while Alonso only snagged P16, he beat out six others to make it into Q2 â a small victory, but a clear indicator of progress.
"It was a different weekend, different Qualifying," Alonso remarked, noting the new package's impact. "We felt that we could fight a little bit more and influence the final result of Qualifying if we made a perfect lap or a perfect setup." That adrenaline rush, which had been absent as he languished at the back of the grid, was back.
Aston Martin's strategy seems to be bearing fruit, as evidenced by Alonso's performance. It's not the glory days of championship wins, but it's a step in the right direction. And while he did manage to score Aston Martin's first point of the season with a P10 finish in Monaco, this latest Qualifying performance is perhaps the clearest sign yet of the team's development.
Looking ahead to the race at the Hungaroring, Alonso remains realistic about the challenges. "Difficult, because I think the points are a little bit out of reach, still far away," he admitted. But there's a silver lining: the potential of the car is still largely untapped. With more laps under his belt, Alonso is optimistic about unlocking further performance, even if the race serves as a test for the car's reliability as much as anything else.
