Hamilton Eyes 2026 Title with Renewed Focus at Ferrari

Lewis Hamilton, now in his second season with Ferrari, is feeling more focused than ever in his pursuit of the 2026 title. The seven-time World Champion sits second in the standings, trailing Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli by 45 points as they head into the Hungarian Grand Prix, the last race before the summer break.

After a challenging initial year with the Scuderia, Hamilton seems to have found his stride. His efforts over the winter, combined with adjustments to the new generation of F1 cars, have rejuvenated his performance. This season, Hamilton has already secured five podium finishes, including a victory at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, marking his first win for Ferrari.

Reflecting on his chances at the Hungaroring, a track where he holds the record for the most poles and wins, Hamilton remarked, "I don’t want to make assumptions, but we should have won the last two races if we had perfected the weekends. In Silverstone, the car was capable of winning, and at Spa, we were more competitive than expected, though I missed something that weekend. I aim to avoid such slip-ups this time."

He acknowledges that while Mercedes remains the team to beat, Ferrari has made significant progress. "We've got a car that can compete," Hamilton noted, "and I hope we can fight with them this weekend."

Hamilton is not the only one feeling optimistic. His teammate, Charles Leclerc, has also performed well, with a win in Britain and a second-place finish in Belgium. Leclerc is cautious yet hopeful as they approach Hungary, a circuit where he secured pole position the previous year.

"The last few races have gone well," Leclerc stated. "We've maximized our package, and while luck and the Virtual Safety Car helped, we've been more competitive than anticipated. However, it's crucial to focus on preparation, as even minor errors can significantly impact performance."

Both Hamilton and Leclerc are set to continue their push as Ferrari seeks to close the gap to Mercedes. With a successful first half of the season behind them, Hamilton is confident in his team and his own dedication to the task. "There's still a lot of work to do," he admitted, "but I'm more focused than ever and truly believe we can fight for the championship."

As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Ferrari to see if they can capitalize on their momentum and challenge for the title. Hamilton's renewed focus and determination could well be the catalyst they need.
