Starting from the pit lane, Isack Hadjar fought his way to a tenth-place finish at the Singapore Grand Prix. Despite technical setbacks, the Red Bull driver was pleased with his overall pace.
Isack Hadjar's weekend at the Singapore Grand Prix was far from straightforward, yet he managed to turn a potential disaster into a point-scoring finish. Starting from the pit lane due to technical issues with his RB22, Hadjar clawed his way up to P10, grabbing a point by overtaking Alpine's Pierre Gasly in the final laps.
"At some point I was nearly dead last," remarked Hadjar, reflecting on a race that saw him overcome software issues and a less-than-ideal start. "Fernando [Alonso] overtook me, and I had software issues, just a painful start but then we got back to it."
The Frenchman faced a challenging stint on the medium tyres, which he described as "damage limitation," but found new life once he switched to the soft compound. "I didn't have many laps to do on it, I had to just be flat-out and I was very fast. I enjoyed it honestly," he shared, highlighting his aggressive drive and successful overtakes.
Despite Hadjar's solid recovery, his teammate Max Verstappen's victory showcased Red Bull's potential when everything clicks. Hadjar remains optimistic about the team's prospects but acknowledges that reliability continues to be a concern. "It's good to have had everything new today during the race. At the same time, it's not like we know how to avoid these issues yet," Hadjar explained. "We don't have a guarantee this won't happen again, so in the next two weeks, big work to investigate that and make sure it doesn't happen again."
The weekend may have been a mixed bag, but Hadjar's performance in the latter stages of the race leaves him confident for the future. "Honestly, I'm happy with the overall pace. Max is winning, [I had] great pace today from last, so I'm confident for the next couple of races," he concluded.
