Lewis Hamilton Reunites with Former Mercedes Engineer at Ferrari

Jasper van Schaick, formerly with Mercedes, has joined Ferrari as a chassis vehicle system specialist. This move reunites him with Lewis Hamilton, who became part of the Scuderia in 2025.

Lewis Hamilton has found a familiar face at Ferrari with the arrival of Jasper van Schaick, a former Mercedes engineer. Van Schaick announced via LinkedIn that he has taken on the role of chassis vehicle system specialist at Ferrari, a move that marks his return to working alongside Hamilton.

Van Schaick's career with Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains began in 2018, where he contributed to the team's continued dominance and Hamilton's world championships through 2020. He progressed to become a concept engineer in 2024, focusing on power unit development and integration with the chassis.

Though initially planning a return to the Netherlands after leaving Mercedes in May, van Schaick was persuaded by an offer from Ferrari to join their efforts in Maranello. He expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, highlighting the excitement of engineering in Formula 1 and his commitment to pushing for a championship with Ferrari.

Van Schaick's expertise in mechanical systems and power units will bolster Ferrari's technical team as they aim for success in upcoming seasons. Meanwhile, Hamilton, who joined Ferrari in 2025, will undoubtedly appreciate having a trusted colleague from his Mercedes days as they strive for new triumphs together.
